ARi is a market leader in engine and powertrain testing. We are an experienced engine and vehicle systems testing operation that views testing as an integration of multiple disciplines and facility requirements.
We execute performance and validation tests on various engine systems including: fuel, exhaust turbo charging, electronics, exhaust after-treatment and design structure systems. While in the field, our portable instrumentation and data acquisition modules also allow us to perform vehicle and machine systems testing during operation.
Our engine test and development facility is 40,800 square feet with a security fence marking the boundary and is conveniently located near Interstate 74. The facility houses seven test cells and is capable of operating engines up to 4500 HP.

At ARi, we have the capability to test multiple engine systems. Our performance and validation tests have included monitoring the injection profile and pressures or the turbo charger for actual pressure ratio and maximum efficiencies. The engine computers are also monitored and controlled for engine management design and development to improve fuel consumption or reduce exhaust emissions. Various structures on or mounted to the engines are fitted with accelerometers and strain gauges and coupled to high-speed data acquisition systems for vibration and durability analysis. Finally, our lineup of emissions testing equipment allow us to monitor exhaust particulate matter, NOx and other emission gasses to perform Tier IV validation steady-state and transient duty cycle tests.
In our engine and development test facility, there are seven engine test cells that are configurable to meet any client need. From 750 to 4,500 HP, our lineup of engine dynamometers are capable of handling most load requirements. In addition, we have on site a 2.5 MW resistive load bank that enables us to perform large generator testing. To power the engines, our facility contains a 3 diesel tank farm and natural gas hook ups to provide consistent fuel to all our engines. Outside diesel analysis is performed monthly, and a gas chromatograph is used to measure gas constituents during test operation. Other blends of gas including: butane, propane and DME with special blending are available by request.
At the core of our business is our instrumentation and data acquisition systems. We measure such things as temperature, pressure, angular velocity, current and voltage, strain, air flow and fluid (fuel, water, DEF) flow. Our data acquisition systems can accommodate up to 92 channels simultaneously, sample at a frequency up to 10Hz, and accepts analog, digital, RTD, thermocouple, PWM and strain gauge inputs.

We offer a full service fabrication shop that not only supports our test facility but other key functions as well. Our capabilities include full layout and design of all sheet metal, piping and welding needs. We carry a 3/16” capacity steel sheerer, a 1/4” capacity steel brake, a bender and roller, multiple welders and a state of the art robotic cutting table. Our shop works closely with our engineers to support our various tests and are capable of traveling off-site to manage and execute fabrication projects.
Fabrication / Facility
On site, we have four engine workbays at our facility. Each workbay contain all the tools necessary for the job. Need flexibility? Our mechanics can perform the work in an engine test cell or out on the field.
At our facility we have a 60-ton crane capable of handling the toughest loads. Each test cell utilizes overhead bridge cranes to reduce the heavy lifting during component installation.
ARi provides flexibility to run tests at our client’s convenience with a three-shift, seven days a week operation. Our multi-dimensional, cross-trained team is given the freedom to express their ideas in a creative environment to provide unique and timely solutions to our clients.
